Strange but true. - Neffa - 26-05-2020

OK I love odd pieces of information and I’m always willing to learn more. By strange I mean true. Here’s my first 5 to whet your appitites.

Camels can’t walk on ice - it’s because they move their legs unlike most mammals e.g both sides together. That movement is what can make people sea sick.

It takes 2 watering cans to fill a grow bag tray. The birds love to bath in it outside our front window.

Honey bee’s cannot fly. According to scientists their body mass is too heavy for their wing span. Has anybody told the bee’s yet?

Giraffes have the same amount of neck bones as we do.

There is only a 4% difference in genetic makeup between us and a banana.

Butterflies taste with their feet!

I thought bees swam rather than flew, something to do with relative size and air density if my brains working today.

The first lift shaft was put in a building a few years before the invention of the Otis safety elevator.
The building designer was convinced a lift would be invented soon so put the shaft in. Unfortunately his lift shaft was circular so his building didn't end up being the first building to have a working passenger lift.

The skin on your elbow has no pain receptors.

The skin on my elbow is dry, can someone else give it a lick. Smile

Also when I was a kid I was told you couldn’t go swimming straight after you’d eaten as you’d get a cramp and might drown. Discovered tonight, that was complete twaddle QI told me. How many more are there?

My mother had a saying for warts, that had something to do with buying it off you and shoving it up a horses rear but, I don’t remember it. Someone will come along shortly and tell me that’s a lie too!!

The lies parents tell their children!   Like if you pull a face and the wind changes you'll stick with the funny face.
