Blueberry bush producing flowers in September - Can the Man - 14-09-2021

I have transplanted a blueberry bush that I have for 5 years that has never flowered or fruited. It was in a large patio pot. I have put it in an ericaceous raised bed and guess what happened it has produced flowers.
I would not expect to get fruit at this time of year, has anybody had any experience of a blueberry fruiting in the autumn/winter ?

No, one of mine has shrivelled up and died and is destined for replacement. Don't they need a pollinator? you might be out of luck for fruit.

Still plenty of bees about and plenty of shrubs with flowers so who knows ?

Do they need another variety of blueberry to cross pollinate (not just a bee)?

I believe so, a bit like some pears. RHS say 'Although many blueberries are partly or fully self-pollinating, it is best to grow two or preferably three different cultivars, as cross-pollinated plants tend to produce more abundant crops.' So you might get some fruit Can. Fingers crossed.

There are blueberries on the bush now, very small and not ripe yet.

It’s at it again, after fruiting earlier in the year it’s having a 2nd flush of flowers so I expect a 2nd flush of berries but they will probably be small and bitter again. I’ll photo it tomorrow and post.
