Pizza toppings - Mikey - 25-05-2020 Ok, I’m after your favourite pizza toppings along with some inventive veg garden combos. Pizza or calzone I don’t mind (calzone for those not sure is a folded pizza which looks like our Cornish pasty) We already do margarita - grated Parmesan, grated mozzarella, basil Neopolitan - grated Parmesan, fresh buffalo mozarella, basil & olive oil Arugula - grated mozzarella, prosciutto, rocket Patatas - thin potato, rosemary, grated mozzarella Garlic Bread - roasted whole garlic, parsley, butter, grated mozzarella Pomodorino - oven dried cherry tomatoes in olive oil, grated mozzarella and basil Now I’m looking for veg or veg and meat combo which might work as toppings. I love roasted broccoli for example so maybe roasted broccoli with blue cheese. I’m open to ideas the wackier the better. Try and avoid the chain restaurant standard combos though I’m working outside the box here, and we have the whole garden to play with. I will try and photography the tastiest sounding combos. Ok I’ve got one Fig, buffalo mozzarella, Parma ham And another Cranberry sauce not tomato, Camembert, roast garlic and rosemary RE: Pizza toppings - Small chilli - 25-05-2020 Pizza toppings I use regularly caramelised red onion Wild garlic Sliced chilli Basil leaves Spinach Oregano RE: Pizza toppings - Bren - 25-05-2020 A couple of my faves. courgettes and mushrooms roasted toms and basil RE: Pizza toppings - Broadway - 25-05-2020 Any pizza with an egg in the middle does it for me? RE: Pizza toppings - JJB - 25-05-2020 Sorry Mikey, don't do pizzas, so haven't a clue. RE: Pizza toppings - Mikey - 25-05-2020 You don’t have to JJB, it’s all about food flavour combos. Anything which will work with bread and cheese. Tomato is interchangeable with other ingredients. So garlic butter can be used as a moist base instead. I was thinking about courgette, fennel maybe, not sure about fresh peas but crushed ones might work, you just need the right cheese. Also pudding pizzas options, so sultanas cinnamon, honey nothing is potentially out of the question. You just need to part cook some ingredients as the pizza is only in the oven for about 79-90 seconds dependant on heat inside. You can use pizza dough to make baguettes they are a very simple bread dough. So any bread based dish is also possible. I think we might get Some of the best flavour combos by coming at it from a non pizza perspective. RE: Pizza toppings - Vinny - 25-05-2020 Not a pizza topping but I love to sit down and nibble a bunch of grapes with a triangle of brie! RE: Pizza toppings - Veggie - 25-05-2020 Anchovies with mozzarella, tomato etc (sorry if that's too basic). Stilton and walnuts Asparagus wilted on at the last minute. Any mushrooms RE: Pizza toppings - doublyjonah - 25-05-2020 We like to use mascarpone on some of the saltier (prosciutto or parma ham) pizzas we make. RE: Pizza toppings - Mikey - 25-05-2020 We had goats cheese, prosciutto and red onion tonight. That was nice. I can see double podded broadbeans working They are like little sweeties. |
