Why, when Sparkling Spring Water goes flat does it taste horrible. Its only supposedly carbon dioxide and spring water so when it goes flat it should just be Spring water surely?
Dunno, all I know is sparkling water tastes horrible anyway, like alkaseltzer. I have seen somewhere on tv the science behind the bubbles and how they affect the taste of liquids on the tongue.
I hate the sparkling stuff, nought wrong with the tap
Some the carbon dioxide dissolves in the water to create carbonic acid, which is a bit sour.
If for some reason I need fizzy water for anything I just use beer instead.......preferably speckled hen or black Sheep.
The only time I use half a small bottle is to mix with Apple Cider Vinegar before my single meal each day. (Apparently it helps with digestion?) When I go to drink the remainder later it is flat and tastes worse than the vinegar. Rolleyes
Fizzy water's good for adding to batter.
So is beer or vinegar!!
I much prefer fizzy water - water straight from the tap always smells too chlorinated for my liking, and still water doesn't really taste of anything. I don't even mind it when it's gone flat, as long as it's not too warm, but it's nicer ice-cold from the fridge with a sprig of mint from my garden!
I like fizzy water over lots of ice with a dash of lime cordial.
The reason flat fizzy water tastes horrible is the carbon dioxide effect
