I know now where you get the name "The Shire"
Out of interest,do you know where the canal starts and finishes and how long it is. Also whether it joins on to any other canals?

It's the Chesterfield canal Vinny, 46 miles from the River Trent (West Stockwith) to Chesterfield, not sure about joining other canals.
