The recipe I followed this week needed fresh Cumin seeds and my culinary ones were 5 years old and, maybe, a little past their flavoursome best. Its time to grow some!
I have some seeds and you can sow it indoors or underglass all year round.
That'll be tomorrow's sowing.
Anyone grown cumin before?
I’ve tried but failed. It grew, I just failed to harvest any seeds. I’ll try again.
I tried too, but I don't recall the plants getting as far as producing seed.
No I haven’t tried this before.
Good idea though.
Coriander does well for me, so maybe I’ll give this a go.
I've grown coriander and had seeds from that but not tried cumin.
I tried but failed. Seed from my Swratz jar didn't germinate.
I've changed the title to include Coriander and Caraway - all to be grown for their edible seeds, rather than the leaves.
I like the flavour of corriander seeds but can't stand the leafy part which I think has a taste of what cats pee would be like! (eek)
I also like caraway seeds but have never seen it growing as a plant. I think a visit to the duck may be called for!
Apparently, some coriander seed is slow to bolt and grown for its leaves - so for the seeds you need a quick to bolt one!
I like the leaves and always end up with the seedy one. Prob best as P hates it like Vinny.
