On a visit to Pemberley (Lyme Park) today not much was flowering but this caught my eye. Anyone know what it is?

Aster- Michaelmas daisy? I have purple and white but they are taller than hay. Once you hav it it can overtake.
These were quite compact plants, 15 to 20" but probably are a variety of Aster. The right time of year and flower. The ones we have are a lot taller and do spread quickly.
I hadn't realised how many different Asters there are. Just a few at Farmyard Nurseries. https://www.farmyardnurseries.co.uk/shop...uery=aster

Could be Little Ness on the first page of that link.

I've bookmarked that link as I might be tempted to buy some of the shorter growing Asters.
Farmyard Nurseries is/was a lovely place to visit if ever you're down in West Wales. They used to have a plant stall in Carmarthen Market which was always very tempting!!
