Cheers SC, yes the plum quality is ok, it's the quantity that lets them down.
This is the first year I’ve got plums on our tree and I’ve forgotten what variety they are as they all have a yellowish hue at the moment. Need to find out what they are so I know when they are ripe!!!
Give them a little squeeze, if it gives, taste one.
Another way to tell is after the birds/squirrels take them - the you know that they WERE ready.
It turns out they are ripe when yellow. Tidy.
