I can't decide whether I like it or not. Reminds me of a brain.
Yeah it does. Makes me feel like a mad scientist.  Because I can grown a brain  Big Grin Cool
Probably my final update on the Bombay bronze cockscomb. Definitely a lot bigger than I’d ever imagined it getting. It’s definitely looking a little past its best now. But it is producing seeds now. Beautiful little shiny seeds. A little tricky to collect.

This is one of the plants I incorrectly pinched out. It did eventually grow some stunning little heads on long lovely stems. Perfect for cutting. But this is also seems to be a little hit and miss. As the other plant I pinched out has taken even longer to start growing again. It’s very busy with very short stems. To be fair it still could grow into something usable but I’m not convinced.

How tall is it, SC? I can't imagine the plant as a whole. Its certainly "different".
I’d guess about 50cm tall.
OK, not as tall as I'd hoped. I feel it should be like a flag iris, a plant that towers above its neighbours. Instead its small but perfectly formed, as they say!

I think the little side shoots are absolutely lovely. even better than the big one.
Well done to you for persevering with them
Not for me, dahlias all the way. Too much work for a stem or two.
It’s a sad day. My big Bombay bronze cockscomb has done everything he was meant to do and given everything to creating the next generation.  I collected my last seeds from him today.

With his seed collecting coat on. He’s been wearing it for a few weeks. It probably protected him slightly. When the cover blew off the tunnel.

He does a fantastic job of protecting his seeds.

Here he is looking exhausted after his shot, very impressive life.

This is what he produced, the entire point of his life. And aren’t they beautiful shiny little seeds. They will go on to beautiful flowers, just like their dad.

I’ll miss him, he was awesome    Blush .
RIP BBC. You may be gone but your memory liveth on. Your seeds will bring forth your likeness and much joy will they spread about the land even until the ends of the earth. Peace be upon you.
