From 3 April, first class stamps will increase by 15p to £1.10p, while second class stamps will rise by 7p to 75p.

From Monday 3 April, the cost of stamps will rise as follows:
Standard letters (max 100g, 24cm x 16.5cm x 5mm)
First class: £1.10 (up from 95p)
Second class: 75p (up from 68p)
Large letters (max 100g, 35.3cm x 25cm x 2.5cm)
First class: £1.60 (up from £1.45)
Second class: £1.15 (up from £1.05)

Today is the last day that Royal Mail stamps without a Bar Code can be used - there will be a £1.10 charge for using the old stamps from August 1st.
Time to bid a fond farewell to all our well-travelled envelopes - they've served us well.

Got many unfranked stamps here that will just have to be dumped!
I sent my old style ones in for swapping. I didn't have the cheek to send off reclaimed unfranked ones. As you say that era is gone.
I have noticed that some of the new barcoded stamps are also arriving unfranked.
End of one era and the beginning of another.
Ah but do the barcoded stamps get recorded on a computer so are voided?
