I like Alan Jenkins' articles. I've read one of his books too.

I thought he sounded a man after your own heart. Even shares some favourite seed suppliers 

I read his book "Plot 29" a few years ago. About his childhood in foster care with his brother and how his love of gardening grew from those early days.
