Thanks Veggie
And as I got species pelargonium seeds from a friend during lockdown - I've ordered myself some scented pelargonium seeds to try in Feb! I've never really liked the brightly coloured hybrids....but I'm slowly being converted by the species and the scented ones.

I know I'm a little person and my hands aren't huge but these leaves are enormous.  Exclamation
This monster leaf  #4 is back again but looks like there may be a flower stem on it this year. Hope so as I really want to know what it is before it eats me.
Still no idea to what it is veggie?
A flower spike is exciting. Be ready with the camera. I definitely want to see flowers of the mystery plant  Cool
I think it's a giant inula, Inula magnifica.
Thanks Martin Smile It could be  - if so, its in completely the wrong place! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inula_magnifica

Grows to 6', suitable for back of border - mine's under an apple tree in the middle of the garden. Smile Should be interesting.

I think this is an Inula - maybe Hookeri - though I call it the scruffy plant - its spreading like crazy at the far end of the garden - back of border, plenty of headroom - nothing like the leaf size of this beast.

The suspense is growing - as is the plant. Smile
Small ? flower buds in the leaf joints below the main head. There's another stem coming up alongside that looks like it will flower too.
Looks like a dead nettle?
Its 5' high and growing taller daily!
Something to look up to, perhaps?
