WARNING - Do not put your small change in a Coinstar machine - like they have in supermarkets. They take a percentage of whatever they count - 10% I think. So I'm on Plan B - buy things with the larger denomination coins and take the smaller ones to the bank to weigh in - along with the old £1 coins (about £16) .
Todays £14 of shopping was FREE. Big Grin
I don't know about your bank, VC, but mine has a charity box on the counter for foreign coins so that's where I leave any I come across.
Most banks have stopped taking the old pound coins. The cashiers maybe nicer in Wales Wink

Barclays, Santander and Nationwide and the Post Office (if you have a PO account) will let you deposit old coins. Guess who's with Lloyds. Big Grin
Some banks have machines for counting small change now, or at least my local Natwest does.
The last time I went to my bank was to pay in some old £10 notes - months ago. No idea what gadgetry they have there!
