So just after lunch yesterday Bob came home. My first question when he walked through the door was “what have you broken now ?” . Reply nothing. Question 2 “ are you damaged? “ . Reply no . Question 3 “ what are you doing here then?
He’d come home to get his climbing gear. He’d been contacted to see if he could retrieve a drone stuck up a tree.

The blue circle is the drone location.

The view just before he reached the tree canopy. He couldn’t see out any higher up.

He thinks it was about 25m . He did recover it safely. He did get paid.  He did have a tour of that very large house. Which was very impressive apparently as it’s been in the same family since the 1800s. So lots of history.
But still…….. hero or idiot?
Idiot - they wouldn't have paid him if he had fallen - typical bloke thing.

Sorry Bob Big Grin What a nutter!
Neither - just a man doing a job who is confident in his ability to climb a tree. Well done Bob. I can't even climb a ladder. Big Grin
Hope he was paid well.......... Rolleyes Big Grin
P says hero, he had all the safety kit and knew his abilities. An idiot would have climbed up without ropes or kit. The idiot might be the drone owner who could do with flying lessons. Nonetheless, his folly is pennies in Bob's pocket for the house build.
I’m with Veggie, Bob knew what he was doing.
Makes you wonder how many Drones end up stuck in trees.
Gonna be awkward and say Star
I think I’m also with veggie on this. I did offer to go help. His response was this is probably something you don’t want to watch! To be fair he was right. Him walking up and down putting our roof on made me nervous. Even with the safety gear on. He did get paid very well. The drone is insured. Because insurance companies being their usual sneaky selves. It was only insured if you could hand it back to them to be replaced. So if it was lost or inaccessible (up a tree ) it wasn’t insured!?!
