FEW - not quite what I mean - I call that the flowering shoot/mainstem.
If you follow that stem down to the ground, you may find that it branches off into a side shoot - those are the bits I mean. I've tried taking photos but its such a tangle.............

The brown woody bit is part of the original plant. The white stem/green leaves are the tufty bit!!!

These are more tufty bits. You can see the umbilical cord on the 2 on the right . These are the bits I replant/root in water.

This is one of the flowering shoots (couldn't get it all in the photo). At the base is the cord that I've just cut through. I'll cut off all the main stem and will attempt to root the bottom tufty bit with cord.

Apologies for making up names for all these plant parts. I only do it to confuse you. Big Grin
After lunch I'm off to inspect chard nether regions, I hope the chard doesn't mind Big Grin
I get it!
Thanks Veggie- sorry to put you to all this trouble!
No problem, FEW. I'm guessing that most of you keep your chard so neat and tidy that it doesn't have chance to run wild like mine!
