OK - not only do I still have this ongoing dispute about my Chinese lanterns ……
The same company have sent me three hundred snowdrops that were supposed to be galanthus elwesii (giant snowdrops) but are in fact galanthus woronowii(broad leaf snowdrop).
I have both of these in my garden from years back and know the difference.
The so and so’s are refusing to acknowledge that they have sent me the wrong snowdrops.
I have planted them ten to a 6 inch pot so now have 30 pots of galanthus woronowii instead of the snowdrops I ordered.
The company expect me to wait and see what develops and refuse to even consider that they have sent the wrong bulbs.
Galanthus elwesii have blue grey leaves and the ones they sent me are bright grassy green floppy strappy leaves as in the photo. Not only were they the wrong sort, they were so small that there is no chance of them flowering this year!
I have lost a whole season.
Despairing over this! They are treating me like an idiot.
Any ideas???
Posted the photo at last
Sorry for duplicate messages!
Remind us which useless company this is, FEW. Name and shame.
Dobies. The mail order one
(Not the garden centre one that has an extra b in the middle)
Dobies - part of Suttons - part of, if I'm not mistaken T&M and their empire - BVG Group. https://www.bvg-group.co.uk/
None of them know the meaning of Customer Service/
It’s exactly the same response as I had to my Chinese Lanterns ..... “wait and see what develops”. Absolutely infuriating when you waste a complete growing season.
I should’ve learnt my lesson by now and stopped buying from these charlatans!
They are hoping that you will forget to complain again next year. If I were you, I would slate them when they ask for Trust Pilot feedback (sometimes that makes companies get in touch) and then set a reminder on your phone/calendar to complain again next year so that they don't get away with it.
Good idea!
My other half says I should raise a credit card dispute.

Tell then that you are Not prepared to "wait and see what develops" and want a full refund. If they want the plants back they must send you the postage.
The snowdrops are not "as advertised" and, if they have sent substitutes, you wish to return them https://www.suttons.co.uk/terms-and-conditions/
If you (and they) do Twitter a single tweet is often enough for a resolution.
