Morning Folks

Any hints, tips on what you feed your plants and frequency.

My understanding is the tomato feeds are used once a week and can also be applied to cucumbers, chilli’s/peppers, strawberries?

What about other veg, beans, onions, courgettes, etc….A general purpose feed???

*** Mods, feel free to move this to a more suitable board if necessary ***
I tend to start out with good intentions by BFB raked in before planting but then forget about everything but the tomatoes. If I use a soluble feed it means a watering can, but if I have to water I use the hose and the feeding gets forgotten because I get narked about how much the water is costing. That said if anything it is BFB or poultry pellets sprinkled haphazardly around. If I think about feeding courgettes, I stop myself because there's normally too many and they don't need encouragement.
Not much help I'm afraid.
I make comfrey feed and give it to chillies, peppers, tomatoes, aubergines, cucs about once a week. Brassicas get some if I have enough. Beans have a load of compost in the planting holes and that does them. Courgettes get some when they first start flowering,
I don't think I feed anything else but rely on the compost that goes on the beds over-winter and when planting. Plus all my veg beds are mulched with gass clippings which I hope breaks down into something useful!!
My pretty things in pots get a weekly dose of it too.

Hiya JJB

It is helpful as to me it’s saying you are satisfied with your crop without religious feeding?

I think I need to get some comfrey plugs for the plot next yearSmile
I use dalek compost, BFB, then feed with comfrey, nettles and sometimes store bought Tom feed. I’m a bit slapdash with feeding anything apart from my toms.

Just be certain to get sterile plants. I just grew it from seed because I have a big plot and can control it.
And then I planted it in the middle of the potager.
In the same bed as the asparagus.
I cannot control it!
I don't feed things on the plot with anything other than comfrey/weed tea. I mulched all the beds with horse manure last year, and I intend to use that in the future again, alternating one year with compost, and one year with horse manure. No more feeds than that.

Potted plants get a normal, bottled liquid feed every few weeks while they're still in pots.
