Pulled up 2 Purple Sprouting Broccoli (PSB) and a cabbage stump today and, in my usual way, couldn't bear to throw it in the compost, so.............
1.  I cut off the top of the plants where the sprouting shoots had been.
2. Cut the stalks into two parts - one with roots, the other with the leafy bit.
3. Cleared a space in the middle of some montbretia (to distract the chooks from finding the PSB)
4. Dug holes and planted the roots and the base of the leafy bits.
5. Walked away and left them to do whatever they wish.

Its something similar to how I propagate the perennial kale - but I use side shoots jabbed in the soil. There were no side shoots on the PSB. Believe me, I looked!!

One for you, Vinny. Big Grin
Before you ask, I don't know what the results of my PSB experiment were as, if they survived, they're lost in the middle of a montbretia jungle. To be honest, I'd forgotten about them completely. Maybe I'll look for them tomorrow - if I remember!
And?
You can't just leave this hanging!!
Patience, PP, I've just picked raspberries for my breakfast, that's Priority, PP. Big Grin

You are trying to perenialise by taking cuttings, I am trying to perennnialise by chopping back florets and getting the single plant to prioritise on growing leaves?  Cry I've had a decent crop off this plant this year so it would be nice if it produced a crop next year. Huh

I have grown five star perennial which is short lived perennial and also walking stick kale likewise, so thought I would give PSB a try? Rolleyes  Tbh I haven't got high hopes! Blush
I also replanted the roots - not just cuttings.
I've grown 5 star cauli too - in fact it may still be here.........somewhere,

PP, I still haven't looked for the "plants" as the montbretia is covered by sticky willie which brings me out in a rash when it touches my skin. When I'm fulled clothed I'll fight my way in an pull up the weeds - then I'll look. Big Grin

Talking of sticky willie...............no I'd better not! Big Grin
I only say it because it makes me laugh - brings out the naughty child in me. Big Grin
Goose grass or Cleavers are so boring in comparison.
