Thought you might like to see the progression of my walking onions over the past few weeks, because they are just such fun Smile

They will do better in a nice big bed veg bed where they can spread in all directions, but are ticking over fairly well in a pot for now.

If you grow some Runner beans they could have a race!
Mine are just a bit behind yours, they're just starting to bulb up.
Are these different to Welsh Onions?

I think so, but I'm no expert. My Welsh onion seeds are described as bunching onions, though I haven't had a lot of success with those. As far as I'm aware, they aren't top-setting onions like these.
Yes, they are different, Danny.
Walking onions form bulbils at the top, the stalks flop over and the bulbils will grow, where they land, some distance from the parent plant.
Welsh onions form flowering seed heads - they're not wanderers but scatterers.
these are fab - I have some supposedly Japanese walking onions growing in pots from a seed day in February. Did wonder what they would look like x
