French/Runner Beans twine around supports whereas peas like netting or summat to grab onto with their tendrils. What if that "summat" was a climbing bean?

In other words, can you think of a reason why I should, or shouldn't, grow beans and peas together on the same support? Smile
Do it , sounds like a plan.
Only one way to find out
I will - you know that - but I can't be the only one who's thought of it - so why don't people talk about it??
I know its not the same but i usually grow sweet peas and nasturtiums amongst my runner beans.
Perhaps finding the beans and peas ready to pick might be a bit difficult with them all entwined together but I was thinking along the same lines and put up the pea net and thought I could put beans there too. Not quite the same as your idea though.
I know what you mean about finding the pods, JJB, so I'm thinking of colour contrasting beans and peas (mangetout actually).
Like purple beans and yellow mangetout - or the reverse maybe.
Sounds like a plan. It will look a bit scruffy because the peas will die off long before the beans have finished fruiting, but to me that wouldn't be an issue, and I'm sure it's not to you either, Veggie. Smile I may give it a go, it seems a great way to save space and i'm all for that in my bijou plot. Big Grin
Go for it Veggie
Sounds an interesting idea x
