Building a Hugelkultur Bed

Lugging logs was easy in as much as we had already felled the trees and stacked them on site a couple of years previously from our communal allowance. We just had to move them out of the way.
Digging the pit was by far the hardest job, partly because we're on clay, so using a ready made raised bed seems like a good plan.
Personally, I would not do it again for perrenial planting because the wood has broken down in such a way that although the soil is lovely, there's no longer enough structure to support the plants, especially the peach. I now have to add material to keep the roots covered! It would work much better just for annual planting.
