Setting up a propagation bench in the GH

I have a heat mat not a large as yours 100 X 60cm. but to protect any cuttings ect. at night I cover it with heavy quality fleece, but doubt if you would need to bother with that, but I must try using the capillary matting on it as I sit a tray with the matting on the base of it, without the tray I will have more space for plants on the mat, only other thing I will do is have a bit of matting feeding from a water container (4pt. plastic milk bottle with a side cut out)

Good idea Spec - I will do that. I haven't t turned it on yet. I wanted to turn it on and look for problems but I didn't start setting up till after lunch. So thought I'd wait until the morning.

Thanks VC - I'm so excited about it. I really hope I manage to get some decent dahlia cuttings this year!

I made myself a fleece tent with a bamboo cane hooked to the glazing bars above - I will use it at night for a few weeks I think.

The stuff that you called polystyrene sheeting, if you glued them together it would make it wide enough to make a hot bin with it, although you would need a wee bit more

I have builders here at the moment - I just asked him where I could get some polystyrene and he said leave it with me I have some scraps. It came in long strips and a few big squares - perfect for free Smile

I did Wink
Scarlet would need to scrounge a bit more from the builders and she could make a Hotbin as well. Smile

EDIT I must have been asleep and missed all the previous posts. Sorry!!
