Sheep's fleeces

A local Recycle group is offering sheep fleeces but I have to decide quickly whether I want some!

Has anyone used  them in the garden?
I've read that they can be used as mulch, in the bottom of bean trenches, to line hanging baskets, soak in water to make liquid fertiliser.............

My real concern is - would they attract animals, like mice, to nest in them or foxes to dig them up?

............BUT I'd have to dig a bean trench instead of poking the beans in the same place as usual!!

I’m getting some form a friend at the other end of the island at some point. We don’t see each other often. She used them across the door to her polytunnel to prevent slug & snails getting in. I was also going to use them under my squash and pumpkin stop them getting a soggy bottom and keep the slimies off them.
If you get some and they have muck attached cut them off into a bucket. They make a brilliant plant food.

I can't imagine how big a fleece is -to decide how many to ask for!!
Apparently she's been offered 500 fleece but doesn't have room to store them all so needs others to share them or she'll have to refuse the lot.

Work on roughly 1m by 1m . Obviously that’s not quite right because they’re not square  Wink . It’s a good starting point for working out how many you want. They take up quite a lot of space, something else to consider.

You’ll have to do the calculations to old money    Big Grin .

If it's a case of refusing them all or taking the lot I think you'll be able to find uses for approx 100 of them.
Ps a sheep fleece would probably weigh something like 7lbs if that's any help.

I've just asked for 100 and she says I can have them if she can find takers for 350 more!! That means she only want 50 herself. I think she spins.
Do I have room for 450 fleeces.???
