Grasses

Does anyone grow Grasses (not the lawn grass but the ornamental sort) as I have some packets of seed that I will never grow and would be happy to send to someone who would.

Hmm, I've got two grasses in my garden - I don't particularly think they "go" with my choice of plants for the garden so I'm hoping to dig them up! But if no one else takes them off your hands can I have last dibs? A friend loves grasses and growing some for her birthday may be a nice present.

As an ex Groundsman it was always my intention to set up a small ornamental grass patch at my garden but life got in the way and I never got round to it. My next door neighbour has grown the black grass in the shade quite effectively and the only grasses I tallied with was the Festuca Glauca, which didn't self seed like I had expected and a rather rampant variegated couch grass which started to take over my other garden.
I wouldn't mind another go, but only if you get no more takers.

I might be interested depending on size. I'm trying to go for a country cottage style bed at the front and a couple of smaller grasses would be good I think. I wont need much though so would be happy to share if someone else is interested.

Thanks for your interest. Smile
These are the grasses - I'll split the packets if more than one of you wants them. They're from Chiltern seeds https://www.chilternseeds.co.uk/ so you can look them up. The dates are when I bought them, not expiry date.

Hordeum jubatum /Squirrel Tail Grass/Foxtail barley 2019
Setaria italica "Hylander"/Foxtail Bristle Grass 2020
Schizachyrium scoparium/Little Blue-stem Prairie Grass 2020
Agrostis nebulosa/Cloud Grass/Fibre Optic Grass 2016
Annual ornamental Grasses Mixed 2020

Panicum Elegans "Frosted Explosion" from Far end woman on GYO
Juncus effusus Spiralis - dateless but old.

Also have
Ferns Mixed Hardy Species 2020

I may find more Grasses as I wade through the seeds.:_

Rule me out Veggie. I am only half-hearted about using them and would rather they went to someone else would cherish them and do them justice.

Apart from owt else, you can't eat them (unless you were a cow, sheep etc) Big Grin
