That might depend on when you sow them and how early your frosts are!.
I grow some in the GH in a bucket overwinter for early picking in spring.

I've just ordered some from Brown Envelope Seeds as they had Winterkefe peas that I've heard mentioned elsewhere so wanted to try them - also 9 Star perennial Broccoli as I want to grow a few more of those and you can't always find the seeds.

I could definitely do the bucket thing, just to get an early taste.  Might have to get more MFBs

Do mangetout get attacked by pea moth? Do you in fact bother if they do as why worry about what you can't see Smile
I read somewhere to time sowing of peas to avoid the emergence of pea moth in July and August, what time would you sow to do that? I know its hypothetical as seasons, weather and location would be factors. Not being a pea grower, I haven't a clue when they are supposed to flower. My bucket of bijou in the gh are over 4ft with no sign of buds, lots of greenery of course.

Also do mangetout freeze well? I expect they lose texture but do they taste ok? I might buy some and experiment.

Thank you for that (I think)
You're just rubbing it in, aren't you?  Tongue They are very pretty though.  I have 'nubs', they're too small to be called buds and I'm not even sure they'll become flowers, although I do have flowers on a tub of ordinary peas, so there's hope.

It shows how much later my climate is than yours, according to that website I'm a month behind you, it's only this last week that the fruit trees have blossomed here.
