Lichen

Over the last year I have noticed a significant increase in the amount and diversity of lichens on my trees. I have even seen lichen growing on a couple of traffic light poles near work in the centre of town. I hope that as things open up again that it stays around but I fear the increase in traffic may reduce it again.
Has anyone else noticed more lichens recently?

Such good news for air quality, especially in urban areas.
Masses of lichen was one of the things we noticed early on, moving from Oxford, within sight and sound of a busy ringroad, to a very rural and thinly populated area. Our trees and pretty much everything else that doesn't get moved for a while are covered!
While people still have to work and that usually means travelling, I hope some of the few benefits that have come out of the pandemic can be retained.
