The Butterfly Count started today - ends 7th August. All you need do is sit for 15 minutes and count butterflies and moths.

I'm hopeless at this. I'll see a butterfly and remember This Count but can't seem to sit down in the right place for 15 minutes to count them properly.

Not remembered to count for 15 minutes but watched butterflies for fun on a buddleia yesterday (which is cheating a bit). 8 red admirals, 2 peacock numerous white/yellow ones a couple of painted ladies and I think a tortoiseshell plus one unidentified.
Gardening is an excuse not to do housework

JJB I don’t see why You couldn’t still add those butterflies to a count.  .
They won’t know it wasn’t a full 15 minutes worth. I’d be delighted to have that many butterflies in an hour, never mind less than 15mins

Did my second count today. I was only taking rubbish to the bin. 20 minutes later I completed the task. Well you can’t walk past the buddleia when the sun is out.

2 small tortoise shell

1 green veined white
