Yet another ID - JJB - 14-05-2023

Someone on our local Next door site is asking if this is a weed. I haven't a clue, any ideas? The picture isn't great though.

Reminds me of several different plants but not enough detail in the photo. If its in the wrong place, I'm guessing its a weed. Could be Willow
herb? https://www.wildfooduk.com/edible-wild-plants/rosebay-willowherb/
Possibly Purple Loosestrife.

RE: Yet another ID - JJB - 14-05-2023

Whoever posted the photo didn't give away much info, I've never let willowherb grow that big so I don't recognise it. Thanks Veggie I'll pass on the possibility.

RE: Yet another ID - Farendwoman - 14-05-2023

Looks like it could be linaria purpurea. Pops up all over my garden - but useful for cutting, so I leave it be.

RE: Yet another ID - Scarlet - 14-05-2023

I was about to say toadflax?

RE: Yet another ID - toomanytommytoes - 14-05-2023

Toadflax for me too. Bees love it but it self seeds all over, not too hard to pull out though.

I've posted back to the lady, thanks everyone.

My Manchester daughter has acquired a couple of plants and would like to know what they are before planting out so she can find out how big/hardy etc they are, I haven't a clue with a lot of flowers.

RE: Yet another ID - Veggie - 28-05-2023

The first one could be almost anything, even calendula.
The second one is a Sedum spectabile https://www.gardenersworld.com/how-to/grow-plants/how-to-grow-sedums/

OK thanks, Veggie, I may come back if it develops a bit.
