I’m probably tempting fate but - Neffa - 25-05-2020

I have yet to find a slug or snail mooching around.
I know I’ve got a frog and a family of massive hedgehogs that come in every night but is it just me or are there less of the little beasts about?

They like damp ground not dry dusty stuff, because it doesn't help them to slither around.

I agree with you there Neffa up to yet I had nothing munched. I'm keeping an eye on my lettuce and peas.

Same thing all the way down here, although we've had enough of the wet stuff to keep the dust away.
I guess if insect numbers can crash by 75% then the same probably applies to all invertebrates. And eventually everything that relies on them. While delighted to not have to do the nightly slug hunt, I find it extremely worrying.

Same here next to none here, I thought it was because I wasn’t growing anything this year.

Oh they’re there all right, I found snails hiding under some weeds I was digging out T the weekend also seen a few slime trails

The only ones I have been finding are tiny ones in every lettuce I pick, not going down well with OH as I told her not to buy any more lettuce, I suppose I will have to-de slug them or perhaps treat them as protein.

They are still munching my hostas, and had a couple of my runner bean tips. It has been very dry though so not surprised there aren’t many about.

It was a very mild winter so I was expecting a massive colony this year.

I've still got them, but there seems to be more snails than slugs this year. I'm not surprised I have them though - my back garden has always been bad. Time to buy some more nemaslug I think.
