Pan fried Mackerel fillets ( caught today by Bob ) and a slice of homemade bread. Followed but pigeon breast (shot by the neighbour) on a bed of home grown salad.

Two of may favourite things! I used to buy pigeons in the feather in Oxford covered market for 35p each, cheap because no-one else was prepared to put the work in! Here pigeon NEVER gets beyond the local hunting group, and certainly not to the shops!!

Yesterday beetroot, shallot & thyme tart quiche thing. Not sure I like the cream & beetroot combo, a litle bit lurid for a Tuesday!

How long on average does everyone spend preparing the main meal of the day?

RE: Tonight’s recipe - PyreneesPlot - 15-07-2020

An hour give or take - start at 6 eat at 7, but I may also unload the dishwasher, clean a cupboard or prep a pile of beans during that time. Weekends, when we have our meat or fish fix usually takes longer!
When I was still working it would be forty minutes, but then I planned more and we had a lot more money to spend, so the cupboards had more ingredients to work with, and I had a freezer, now it is just three drawer fridge-freezer and 55€ a week.
